Property Assessments for Ontario Horse Farms

New Hamburg Independent did an article Dec 1st. Mike Smith from CBC Radio is coming here Tuesday. A lawyer and writer Don Good, from Country Guide, is coming here tomorrow, Thursday night. The Toronto Star is planning an article also. Wingham radio also interviewed us today. I have calls into KW record and CKCO TV.
The Rider's Advertiser is publishing the ARE News Release shortly. The Rider and Horse Sport are planning more articles. I have emailed The Game and Canadian Thoroughbred. I have sent dozens of emails to horse related organizations, stables and individuals.
I called Rose McLean, Director of Legislation and Policy Services, at MPAC today to let her know that TB and Standardbred farms are being re-assessed commercial - she seemed surprised and is looking into it. I have given some of these farms her number. We had met with Rose, as the ARE committee to fight this tax, a few weeks back in Pickering. She is trying to arrange a meeting with the different Ministries to discuss this issue..... the same group that are on the Definition of a Farm. The Ministry of Finance office seems to be holding things up.
We are also meeting with Rene Hunderup from Norse Ridge Farms in King City (TB) Sunday Dec 19th - he has all the documentation from the Woodbine fight over the backstretch. Jim Henry who has a riding and boarding facility is also joining us.
